Iqbal Shailo worked as Head of the International Linkages and Development Communication (ILDC) of the Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh (ADAB), an apex body of more than one thousand international, national and local NGOs working in Bangladesh.
He was engaged with the ADAB executive committee in Strategic Policy Planning and Implementation across the country to moving forward to a new rural development paradigm making a radical departure of NGOs from the mere- support-service organizations model to an effective development partners in facilitating the rural and grassroots economy. Thus, NGOs were effectively involved with the direct development intervention in rural economy through a shared vision of development, mutual cooperation and collaboration in the development process of the country.
Containing 272 pages, this special issue (conceived, developed and edited by Iqbal Shailo) is considered a grassroots development prescription and guide that reflects the successful activities/projects/programs of local, national and international NGOs, as well as a gateway to explore a broad developing socio-economic panorama of Bangladesh.
Montreal
• Worked on issues of economic and neighborhood development in different areas of Montreal and monitored the initiatives of the local government in developing the well-being of ethnic communities including South Asian people and Aboriginal populations of greater Montreal area. • Coordinated and communicated with other like-minded organizations to strengthen health services, gender equality and women empowerment for the greater benefit of society • Designed policies for increasing the provisions of health services to the at risk youth section, new immigrants, visible minorities and Aboriginal populations through prevention programs for HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy and abusive relationship.
Montreal-Toronto • Campaigned for increasing the provisions of health services to the at risk youth section of immigrants and visible minorities through prevention programs for HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy and abusive relationship. • Supported editorial staff in all activities leading to publication. • Distributed the newsletter among the member-NGOs, individuals and different institutions of Canada. • Exchanged views with immigrant communities of Canada to take care of their health and nutrition. • Collaborated across a wide range of sectors and stakeholders, including public health, primary health, mental health, child welfare and social housing providers to prevent HIV, STDS and teen pregnancy. • Coordinated and communicated with other like-minded organizations to strengthen health services, gender equality and women empowerment for the greater benefit of society. • Designed policies for new immigrants and visible minorities through prevention programs for HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancy and abusive relationship.
